This building opened during the 1962 World's Fair and was constructed using pioneering pre-cast methods for the time.  Although the building has withstood a number of major earthquakes, potential safety hazards exist related to jointing and glazing.  This $1 million project includes strengthening the slender-column colonnade structure, a significant architectural feature of this 1962 structure, as well as replacement of the main lobby glass wall.
